BIOLOGY topics

7A Cells
7B Reproduction

7C environment and feeding relationships and 7d variation

7C is about how different animals and plants survive in their environment. You will learn about how we show what each animal eats and where plants get their food from. In 7D you will learn about how organisms differ within a species. You will learn about how Biologists use classification systems to group organisms.

Here are the learning objectives for this topic
I can
  • Name some examples of habitats
  • Describe the features of habitats
  • Describe and explain adaptations of animals to hot desert or arctic climates
  • Name examples of predator and prey animals
  • Name producers and consumers
  • Name carnivores, herbivores and omnivores
  • Draw a food chain
  • Write food chains when given a food web
  • Describe how some animals adapt to seasons

I understand
  • That all animals and plants are adapted to their habitat
  • That plants are producers and they make their own food using energy from the sun in photosynthesis
  • That animals get their energy from eating other animals or plants
  • The differences in diet of carnivores, herbivores and omnivores
  • That the arrows in a food chain show the flow of energy
  • That food webs show better the relationships between animals in an environment
  • That changes in the population in one organism in a food web will affect the others
